Recycling is turning materials that would otherwise be thrown into landfill waste system into valuable resources and thereby producing long-term benefits for our environment.
For e.g if you drink 1 bottle of water per day, that equals 30bottles of water in 30 days (1month). And you live up to 100 years that will be your 1 bottles of water multiplied by 365 days (1year) = 365 bottle, but considering your body need at least 8 to 10 cups of water per day, this meaning you will drink more.
The first time i heard recycling without understanding the idea behind it, i thought eww reusing dirt cans, that's gross. See what happens if you don't recycle.
Importance of Recycling
Ask yourself what is the true cost of the products you buy over time. We get products, then you consume and dispose. Imagine all the wrapped toys & gift, tools, packaged cosmetics, batteries and technology devices, bottles of snack produced we buy. Also imagine the mining process of making things like aluminum cans, coal plants and oil refineries, rail cars, assembly lines that goes into manufacturing, then the gas emitted into the environment in the creation and use. Also the pollutants produced in the manufacturing, usage, and disposal that cause acid rain, smog, fouled waterways.
Then multiply 365 bottles by 100 years of your life =36500 per you, so imagine a whole household. Imagine all unhealthy drinks you ever consumed such as a coca-cola soda etc where do you think it winds up -- in the landfill waste system.
So yes recycling is very important for you and your environment.
According to National Geographic "In an international study published last year by the Waste & Resources Action Programme, a British group, researchers compared more than 180 municipal waste management systems. Recycling proved better for the environment than burying or burning waste in 83 percent of the cases.
It makes sense to reuse products, of course, and to reduce consumption altogether, as well as to improve initial product design. Given the rising mounds of waste worldwide, it makes sense to recycle. It is our job and the job of the city sewage and recycling system to clean up the landfill filled with our daily mess.
It is sad to know that "Despite the explosive growth of plastics—particularly for use in beverage containers—that industry has been slow to develop recycling infrastructure, with most plastic still going to incinerators or landfills".
Importance of Recycling
- Conserves virgin materials, natural resources and reduces the amount of waste to be disposed.
- Reduces Air and Water pollution
- Reduces the demand for energy,it takes less energy to make recycled products.
- Conserves land and landfill space, oil and minerals
- Saves money and creates Job.
- It is the least expensive waste management method.
- Helps sustain the environment and natural ecosystem for future generation.
