Rye bread & healthy food tip

Rye breads
Rye bread is a whole meal bread made with flour from rye grain of variable levels or mix of rye and wheat flour. It originated in Europe, comes in different shapes and sizes. It contains more fiber than other common types of bread and is often darker in color and stronger in flavor. In Netherlands, Germany, Finland, the Baltic States, Scandinavia, and Russia, rye is a popular type of bread.
Rye flour is different from ordinary flour.
It contains only small amounts of dough strengthening proteins, resulting in weak dough.
Rye flour also has more amylase enzyme which breaks down starch into sugars.
Rye bread is made with less water to keep shape stiff and intact.
Rye bread is usually higher priced
Bread Health Tip:
Look for gluten-free, artificial preservative and artificial color free bread
Avoid Hydrogenated oil also known as Trans fat- because it can increase bad cholesterol (LDL) in your body and it is bad for your heart.
Avoid High-fructose corn syrup: Is a number one obesity contributing factor, it converts to fat more easily and can make you gain weight.
Refined sugar: When you put refined sugar into your mouth, you experience a sugar high that rapidly raises your blood sugar levels. A few hours later, your energy would probably crash, then you feel tired and empty like how you would feel after you had a shot of Red bull or Gatorade drink.
Sugar from fruit, fiber or fat source will absorbs faster into your body and it causes a much slower sugar rise thereby helping you avoid fluctuating or yo-yo sugar levels, and will give you much lasting energy level.
Stevia, honey, pure cane or Agave is an alternative to refined sugar
Saturated Fats are found mostly in animal produce such as butter, cream, hot dogs, beef, and skin from chicken. These increase your cholesterol levels and clog your arteries, and may lead to cardiovascular disease.
Enriched flour: In enriched flour most of the grain’s nutrient are destroyed in the refining process. Companies add a little bit of the lost nutrients back and label it “enriched” so it seems nutritious but after about 2hours you want more food....which doesn't help with weight loss because it makes you crave more food--(doesn't help you maintain your weight).
Whole grain/multi-grain with rye grain and other many grains without preservatives are much better.

More about bread-
White bread is made from wheat flour from which the bran and often the germ is removed.
* It is bleached using potassium bro mate or chlorine dioxide gas to remove any slightly yellow color for better baking.
* For Longer shelf to survive storage and transit times.
* It is less nutritious than whole wheat and whole grain.
* Too easily digested but not easily absorbed thereby resulting in more drastic rising and falling of blood sugar and insulin levels.
* Those who are diabetic, watching weight, or suffering Acne should avoid white bread.

“Most of the vitamins inherent in wheat are removed along with the germ or destroyed in the bleaching process. By the time the United States joined World War One, the lack of vitamin content had led to an increase in the proportion of failures on basic entrance physical exam for draftees and military recruits. In response to this, the United States, by law, directed that white flour must be enriched with vitamins, replacing most of the major vitamins removed by bleaching—though critics claim that valuable trace minerals removed by bleaching are not replaced in the enrichment process. Counter-arguments to this claim note that the amount of trace minerals in bread is minuscule to begin with and their supply is easily substituted by other common dietary constituents such as fruits and vegetables. Canadian grain regulations require relatively high amounts of protein in their grain, resulting in a style of bread known as Canadian white”.
I don't recommend white bread, it lacks much nutrients thereby not the healthiest option for health.
