Nontoxic Lifestyle Twlight Holiday Ideas

The leafs have turned red, yellow and they are falling; the weather is cool; the streets and stores have been decorated with things like snow flakes and pine cones, reminding us to celebrate the season once more. So i think we could add a tiny twist to lighten up and celebrate the tradition using some holiday tips that is sustainable ---to save you time or money.

6 Nontoxic Holiday tips that is sustainable:

  • Buying a real Christmas tree plant or a fragrant tall rosemary tree is a nontoxic way to decorate your home and bring in the festive glow to your home this season. These plants can be decorated with lights, candies and natural decors
such a pine cone, butterflies art clips. A real potted Christmas tree can be reused every other season if properly cared for; the plant will keep growing and you won't have to cut down any tree, and it will save you from having to buy a Christmas tree every year. --- buy a Christmas tree growing in a pot.  For most people, real christmas plant has a better appeal than the artificial tree because when well cared for, it won’t get fuzzyfrizzy look from over use like the artificial tree, it provides you clean air (oxygen) in exchange for the water, sunlight and carbon dioxide in your home.

  •  As i mentioned before, you can use natural based decoration: like pine cones, little tiny metal Christmas light wreath star decor, tie tiny dark chocolate like kisses chocolate candies to your tree as an edible decoration, tie some wish note on your tree.

  • I know some people really may not make it home for the holiday because of work or other distant issues, So i think sending a healthy and functional nontoxic or hand-crafted gift isn't a bad idea at all: some thing like homemade
sugar body scrub, big box of chocolate, a card loaded with some cash & smiles, handwritten heartfelt note, homemade pie sent in a box or jar, a bottle of organic wine, a book, a gift card and coupon, ticket to a grand restaurant or show, a warm dress made specially by you or by their favorite designers; you could also send some winter needs like lip-balm, perfume, winter gear --(cotton soc kings or warming hand gloves). Be someone's secret santa---Make your giving useful and share some love with someone special. This season isn't about over spending and it's really not a good idea to stress out about gift buying; it is really a time to reflect on the special people in your life and find memorable things or ways to share the season together, even if you can't be with one another eye to eye this season........there are other ways to connect. You can skype---face to face voice talking as you share the gifts.

  •     Use Eco-friendly wrapping gift tools like natural twig fiber, hemp or decorated paper for a more intense earthly warm feel. you can put your impression on it by painting your lip and sealing your lip mark on the gift wrapping.

  •     Avoid buying glossy foil or metallic wrapping paper because it is difficult to recycle or reuse after its been used. It wrinkles, creases and contain heavy metal used to make foil paper.

  •     Since electricity isn’t cheap, we have been seeing more houses without a glitch of holiday lights and you know Christmas isn’t complete without some lights----- LED Christmas lights.
There are other easy ways to save money on lighting besides switching holiday lights, like putting lights on timers or motion sensors, and just being more diligent about turning off lights you're not using.  A single 100-watt bulb left on continuously will run you $12 a month (assuming 16¢/kWh).
"You could choose either Led or CFL lights for the holiday and all year round. They're both good choices, produce very good light, are direct screw-in replacements for your current bulbs, and save tons of energy.  So there's no need to obsess over which one to choose.  LED is generally better but the current cost is still high ? $13 for an LED bulb vs. $2 for a CFL.  You'll make up the extra cost for the LED from the energy it saves, but if you can't stomach the up-front cost, just go with CFL.  Either way, the calculator at right shows you how much you can save."--------Michealbluejay.com

  •     If you are planning on sending your favorite suit or dress to the dry cleaner, make sure that you use a safe detergent and avoid PERC used by dry cleaners or laundromat for drying cleaning. The EPA has indicated that this chemical can cause dizziness, fatigue, infertility, kidney, liver, central nervous system, developmental and respiratory damage. Can enter the body through inhalation, skin contact and by drinking contaminated water. PERC can also be found in paint strippers, spot removers and other solvent- based household products. Some laundry cleaners have already stopped using the chemical, but nearly 30,000 dry cleaners in the U.S. still clean with PERC. But let’s face it, when it comes to washing our expensive suits, delicate silks and lacey dress, winter coats may require professional cleaning. But if you want to do it yourself in your home at your own convenience, i would suggest you use these few tips in the video above by greenearthcleaning.
