Scented poison is the secret

"Sometimes i daydream of a day i will have a 'nontoxic line of perfume" made with an exceptional scents like in the movie you will find in these lines"...............

Fragrance companies are not required to label their products by ingredient because fragrance is considered a trade secret; so if we are wearing top brand heavy metals or plastic chemicals that can be potentially harmful we wouldn’t know before buying it and this is how the conventional fragrance industry markets to consumers and competitors in the fragrance market.
Fragrances can be found in almost about everything like hygiene and personal care product-shampoo, deodorants, shaving cream, lotions, sanitary products, soaps, even in home cleaning product, Spa/resort products, and in car scents. We breathe it almost always if you’re in an environment or around a person wearing a toxic fragrance while they themselves may not even realize the harm “their beautiful scent” is doing to their health (some fragrance are respiratory, skin carcinogens, immune and hormone disruptor).
We all love fragrances, they have been in use since ancient times, Cleopatra’s days and before. They are sometimes made TV highlight and that is good when it is “nontoxic”- like in the movie "Perfume:The Story of a Murderer" (2006-
Even today some magazine have samples of Eau de toilette or parfum in their subscription issues-it is like the world around me is crazy about good smelly scents if I stink like my cat they give me a grim. We even send “Fragrance” and “fragrance gift” to our loved one’s so we ought to know what they are?

"A rose may be a rose. But that rose-like fragrance in your perfume may be something else entirely, concocted from any number of the fragrance industry’s 3,100 stock chemical ingredients, the blend of which is almost always kept hidden from the consumer". Source- EWG
Fragrance chemicals are inhaled or absorbed through the skin, and many of them end up inside people’s blood stream, organs, and even the barrier between pregnant women and yet to be newborn babies.
Beware of this !

Perfumes, perfume oils, colognes and body deodorant sprays are often called “fragrances.” Fragrance is “everyone’s like” because of what it does to our senses when you inhale it. Aroma-essential oil/scents/fragrance is beneficial to us- it can relax our minds and set us into the right mood when it is a “toxin free scent”. I find many conventional brands of perfume/parfum to be very intoxicating, full of strong smelly chemicals that are quite toxic to our organs and nervous system (brain). Fragrance ingredients may be produced by chemical synthesis derived from petroleum or natural raw materials. Conventional brands are known to have alluring scent; that some popular perfumes, colognes and body sprays market using terms like “floral,” “exotic,” or “musky,” but they don’t disclose that many scents are actually a complex cocktail of natural essences and synthetic chemicals – often petrochemicals. Perfumes and colognes also contain solvents, stabilizers, UV absorbers, preservatives and dyes. These additives are frequently, but not always, listed on product labels. In contrast, the chemical components in fragrance itself are protected as trade secrets and described on the label only as “fragrance.”

Examples of common ingredient found in fragrant products and what they are?
Ethylhexyl palmitate- an irritant; if you have sensitive skin avoid products that contain ethylhexyl palmitate.

Stearyl alcohol is a compound derived from stearic acid, a naturally occurring fatty acid. It is considered a human irritant – there is a strong evidence that eye and skin products containing stearyl alcohol may be Aerosolized (airborne), and should not be used on acne prone or injured skin. Also Stearyl alcohol can be a potential environmental toxin.

It is used as Emulsion Stabilizer; Fragrance Ingredient; Surfactant - Emulsifying Agent; Surfactant - FoamBooster; Viscosity Increasing Agent - Aqueous; Viscosity Increasing Agent - Nonaqueous; EMOLLIENT; EMULSION STABILISING; FOAM BOOSTING; MASKING; OPACIFYING; REFATTING; VISCOSITY CONTROLLING

Zinc Ricinoleate is a zinc salt of Ricinoleic Acid (q.v.) Anticaking Agent; Deodorant Agent; Opacifying Agent.  This can accumulate in wildlife habitat-an environmental concern,
May be an allergen to people who are sensitive to it. It can be an immunotoxicant on a long term use.
Other names:12-HYDROXY-9-OCTADECENOIC ACID, ZINC SALT; 9-OCTADECENOIC ACID, 12-HYDROXY-, ZINC SALT; ZINC SALT 12-HYDROXY-9-OCTADECENOIC ACID; ZINC SALT 9-OCTADECENOIC ACID, 12-HYDROXY-; 12-HYDROXY- ZINC SALT 9-OCTADECENOIC ACID; 9-OCTADECENOIC ACID, 12-HYDROXY-, ZINC SALT (2:1) , (9Z,12R) -; 9OCTADECENOIC ACID, 12HYDROXY, ZINC SALT (2:1) , [R (Z) ] ; RICINOLEIC ACID, ZINC SALT; ZINC DIRICINOLEATE

Ceterath-20 is a skin penetration enhancer that comes with other concerns related to ETHYLENE OXIDE, 1,4-DIOXANE although at the moment it hasn’t been found to be potentially carcinogenic it may be an Organ system toxin (non-reproductive).

Polysorbate 60 (Tween-60) is a sorbitol-based emulsifier and surfactant, it is another chemical that can produce ETHYLENE OXIDE, 1,4-DIOXANE during processing or use.
Function/use(s): Fragrance Ingredient; Surfactant - Emulsifying Agent; Surfactant - Solubilizing Agent

Use: Widely used as a food additive (emulsifier, thickener, stabilizer), cosmetic agent, lubricating agent, antifreeze. It can be a respiratory irritant and dehydrating when applied to the skin

Note: I have used pure glycerin myself; i find Glycerin a bit heavy for skin care because the skin needs to breath. it is really a humectant that can attract and maintain moisture for a dry skin or hair. It is a highly viscous conditioner, that can be great for hair care but pure castor seed oil is much vegan option that is just as conditioning with other medicinal benefits. If you must purchase glycerin, look for a vegetable origin glycerin, avoid animal derived glycerin.

Potassium, sorbate is a skin toxicant, a preservative and fragrant ingredient that could be an allergen or immuntoxicant on a longer expose or to sensitive person. Potassium sorbate is a potassium salt of sorbic acid, a naturally occuringantimicrobial compound; used as a preservative

, sodium benzoate, stearic acid, stearyl alcohol, sodium bicarbonate, sodium state, oleic acid, glyceryl state, glyceryl laurate, propylene glycol(antifreeze).

Brands containing 'some things i did find harmful to me" I have used myself before i found Nontoxic Lifestyle are
  • Celine Dion
  • Paris Hilton
  • Britney Spears
  • Estee Lauder
  • Avon
  • Block White
  • Bella by Mary Kay
  • Burberry fragrances
  • Speed stick Irish spring icy blast antiperspirant deodorant.
  • Power stick Hurricane deodorant body spray
  • body fantasies cucumber melon fantasy body spray cheap poison is what i call it but not compared to the top brands. These chemical ingredient are still under research and investigation but some others have been proven harmful to our health, not to be critical of these brands but you have got to call a spade for a spade in concerns related to human health.
Synthetic fragrances are not organic or "carcinogen free" because they contain phthalates, synthetic or petroleum based ingredients. You want to buy from a company concerned with creating nontoxic solution for every day problem by investing and inventing sustainable, fair trade, cruelty free products.

Synthetic musk like galaxolide and tonalide is an example of synthetic chemicals that can reach the blood stream and the umbilical cord of new born from skin. it can disrupt hormones, can bind to human estrogen receptors and affect androgen and progesterone receptors.
Tonalide increase the profileration of estrogen response that could lead to breast cancer.
It is a neurotoxin. It is toxic to aquatic life in numerous studies and can accumulate in the food chain.

Antiperspirant:

Solid antiperspirants are made with several ingredients, including wax, a liquid emollient and an active-ingredient compound. It's the active ingredient that gives antiperspirants their sweat-blocking power. All antiperspirants have an aluminum-based compound as their main ingredient, it can be toxic to the nervous system. If you look at the back of an antiperspirant container, the aluminum-based compound is always the first ingredient listed. Here are a few of the common active ingredients found in Antiperspirant fragrances.

Aluminum chloride
Aluminum zirconium tricholorohydrex glycine
Aluminum chlorohydrate
Aluminum hydroxybromide

The aluminum ions are taken into the cells that line the eccrine-gland ducts at the opening of the epidermis, the top layer of the skin, says dermatologist Dr. Eric Hanson of the University of North Carolina's Department of Dermatology. When the aluminum ions are drawn into the cells, water passes in with them. As more water flows in, the cells begin to swell, squeezing the ducts closed so that sweat can't get out. Each cell can only draw in a certain amount of water, so eventually, the concentrations of water -- outside and inside the cells -- reach equilibrium. When this happens, the water inside the cell begins to pass back out of the cell through osmosis, and the cell's swelling goes down. This is why people have to re-apply antiperspirant.
These Four things are strong neuro-toxic and immune disruptor so avoid products with aluminum- Antiperspirant.

Finding your Signature scent? When shopping for organic/nontoxic/vegan fragrances you want to read the label and check to make sure the ingredients are pure organics or botanical ingredients like herbs, flowers, nut oil, (mineral like alum, sea salt) and no harmful chemical is used to grow plants used in making the perfume. Your purchasing toxin free “nontoxic” fragrance is the best choice, Look for products that states the following:

  • Products made with Natural grain alcohol, Organic certified or USDA approved.
  • “Fragrance free” (no masking fragrance)
  • Avoid products that say just “fragrance”- because it doesn’t tell you the ingredient in the product that is used or labeled as fragrance.
  • Preservative & P.G. Free
  • No Aluminum, parabens, methyl-paraben, preservative unless it is from a herbal source
  • Crystal Clear (no nano-particles), Long Lasting Protection
  • Paraben & Propylene Glycol Free
  • 100% Vegetarian - Vegan Ingredients
  • No Animal Testing -“Cruelty free”
  • Ayurveda/Herbal ingredients
  • USDA organic/Organic certified
  • Fair Trade
  • Plus check ingredient.
Sometimes you may see 100% natural ingredient- check before assuming it is from herbal or vegan origin because even animal fat, mineral oil from petroleum is natural. That is why I don’t like that term “Natural”. For example, Nature’s Gate autumn Breeze scent containing Propylene Glycol, Water, Glycerin, Sodium Stearate, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Cocamide DEA, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Quercus Infectoria (Oak) Gall Extract, Glycine, Arginine, Leucine, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Resin Extract, Butylene Glycol, Fragrance. Can you tell me what is wrong with this product- not to be critical but this is what I mean when I say read ingredients because it can be natural but still contain Propylene Glycol-  antifreeze" ???
Propylene Glycol is a humectant used in humidifying and delivery ingredient, it is also used in cosmetics, along with other glycols and glycerol it is used to keep products from melting in high heat or freezing when cold. It also helps active ingredient penetrate the skin which is why it is added to cosmetic products for easy absorption. However, it is possibly a skin irritant but more research is indeed needed to find out more about this ingredient. Research indicates that large doses of polyethylene glycol (PEG) given to rat caused tumor. Note that MSDS sheets are referring to 100% concentration of these substance, but considering cosmetics are stuff we put in and on our body on a daily bases it is possible that propylene glycol can be harmful over long haul usage.
Look for Something made of Baking Soda & Lichen, Organic herbs-pure essential oil like Rose Water, Coconut Fatty Acid Cream Base, Organic Aloe Vera, Natural Grain Alcohol, Calendula Oil, Vitamin E, Calamine Powder; Oils of Arnica Flowers, Chamomile, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Jasmine, Fir, Vanilla, Cedarwood and Rose, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Butter*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Beeswax*, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Saccharomyces Ferment*. Lavender, Patchouli, Vetiver Pure Essential Oils*, Silybum Marianum (Milk Thistle) Extract*, Hibiscus Tiliaceus (Hibiscus) Flower Extract*, Spiraea Latifolia (Meadowsweet) lead Extract, organic chemical that is nontoxic because not all chemical come with toxins Etc.

Look for Hypo-Allergenic
Fragrance & Allergies- Get one that doesn’t make you sneeze when you spray it but one that contains herbal/essential oil that will help relieves allergy symptoms. Try a fragrance free deodorant instead of a spray since chemical molecules in high concentration can trigger respiratory attacks like asthma. Sometimes masking fragrance is used to cover up the odor of other harmful ingredients- so check label, beware.

Tips - Buy organic/nontoxic/vegan perfume.  Read ingredients in product and do a research on ingredients that raise red flag.

This is what EWG skin deep said you can do to help the “fragrance dilemma” working toward making fragrance a toxin free zone. Help pass smarter, health-protective laws: Sign our petition to Congress to voice your support! Buying safer, fragrance-free products is a great start, but we can’t just shop our way out of this problem. In order for safer products to be widely available and affordable for everyone, we must pass laws that shift the entire industry to non-toxic ingredients and safer production.
So why not just take advantage of the new market, toss the old junk of toxin-give yourself a change with organic fragrance.
